T-Systems has equipped a new plant with information and communications technology for resource planning for Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze (SEBN) in Mexico. The manufacturer of electrical wiring systems for the automotive industry will in future control all production processes, material movements and financial data using SAP software from a data center in far-away Munich, Germany. The agreement has a term of three years.
Sumitomo will now procure all resources such as calculation time and storage space flexibly and as required via a newly established network connection and thus only pay for the services actually ordered. As a result, the company does not need to reserve capacities for occasional peak loads and can convert high fixed costs into variable outputs orientated towards usage.
In just four months, T-Systems adapted the software to on-site requirements, set up the network between Mexico and Germany and connected Sumitomo directly to the plant of a European automotive manufacturer report requirements for additional wiring harnesses automatically to the neighboring supplier. Furthermore, T-Systems supports the computers and software in Munich.
